In this article, we will give you all the information that you need concerning the features, specifications and a lot more, giving you a side by side comparison just to help you pick the perfect one- Let’s let the speaker choose you instead of you choosing it.

Furthermore, we will provide to you the details about the dimensions, the accessories that come with them (As well as those that you can buy separately, if any) and the warranty time.

Overview

I want to take this moment to highlight some of the features that I think are very impressive in these speakers.

Both of these speakers have been well-known, mainly for the amazing sound quality that they deliver.

Despite the sound itself, I think one thing you would like about these models is the cabinet into which everything is contained- because the last thing you want is a speaker that comes with a cabinet that will easily wear out or get dismantled.

The controls at the back of both of these speakers are quite similar, having a phase control and volume that you can easily adjust, making these the most flexible speaker models that you can find.

The good part is that you can easily master how to use the controls by reading the user and setup manuals. In this way, you won’t have to worry about having an expert around to adjust them for you.

More information like this will be covered as we go on. Next up, we will look at the Design section.

Design and Features

At first glance, The HSU VTF-2 MK5 and the SVS PB2000 come with a great appearance- you can instantly notice the quality just by looking at them.

Both of these speakers, as we mentioned before, have been built with a cabinet that is on the high end- particularly in terms of quality. The outer material is so sturdy that you can tell that it will last for a long time.

Speaking of the cabinet, comes with a fantastic finish, having a smooth surface (that is clean- no scratches) and some clean edges.

However, these speakers aren’t just durable, they have a stunning appearance that can really lighten up the room, in which they have been placed, and stand out to make that look even gorgeous.

That being said, I figured we should go a little more in depth of the appearance features to see just how they look, just so you can know more about what these brand are offering to you. Let’s start with the HSU model.

HSU VTF-2 MK5

First things first, the HSU stands at 12 inches, which is a reasonable size for speakers of their make and quality.

This speaker has front firing drivers, which are made to give you the best quality possible, with a 350 watts of continuous power as well as a 1400 watts of peak power.

If you are not sure what peak power is, this is basically the highest wattage that a speaker can accept from an amplifier before it burns out or becomes damaged. Peak power is sometimes called power handling and it is generally given in watts.

Here is a feature that I know you will love. The HSU VTF-2 MK5 comes with two ports, as compared to the SVS PB2000 speaker. These ports are both front firing, which means that they are located at the front of the speaker and they play a major role in your music experience.

You are provided with two foams which are designed to perfectly fit into the ports. The main use of covering the ports is that it will assist you in tuning of the speakers, which you will doing a lot when you are setting up the speakers for the first time.

What you do is that you cover one port (or both) and do some adjustments on the equalizer. This gives us a speaker that has a variable tuning frequency- which explains why we have VTF in the model name.

In terms of the frequency, this speaker goes down to about 16 Hz when you have covered one port and it goes down to 22 Hz when both of the ports have been opened. I’m sure you can see how important the port-covering foams are.

Generally, when you cover the ports, it is much easier for you to control the sound quality that you will get from the speaker. Speaking of control, the HSU comes with a couple of controls that are located at the back.

The Back

At the back of the HSU, you will see the volume control, crossover control, the phase adjustment and of course, the VTF control that are used to adjust the EQ.
The SVS PB2000

Just like the HSU model, the SVS stands at 12 inches. For an averaged sized person, this speaker would reach the height of your shoulder- that’s if you are in a seated position.

The SVS PB2000 comes with front firing drivers just like the HSU. However, they have different power handling wattage properties.

These front firing drivers produce a 500 watts of continuous power and they have a peak power of about 1100 watts.

Another difference that we noticed about the SVS from the HSU model was that the PB2000 has one front firing port which measures about 4 inches

The back

On the back of the SVS, you will find the volume control, the crossover as well as the phase adjustments.

What about the Sound Quality?

This is the part you have been waiting for. In terms of the sound quality, both of this speakers deliver some awesome power.

However, I have to give the crown to the HSU on this one. This speaker gives out more clarity than the SVS can even reach.

Also, the sound quality on the HSU has more dynamic, making it easy for you to distinguish he highs, mids and lows. On top of that the HSU has a bass that is much more “boomy” than the SVS.

Keep in mind that the SVS also has an amazing quality- don’t get me wrong, but when it is compared to the HSU, you know the rest.

What’s in the Box? (Accessories)

When you purchase something like a speaker, you want to be provided with the right accessories that will get you started right away. You don’t want to buy one thing and then go on amazon and start looking for other items- it is a little inconvenient.

You will be glad to know, however, that upon purchasing these models, you have anything that you need right there.

One factor that gives the SVS an added advantage here is that you are given a letter from the president of the company, which is very nice.

Also, you will receive an email from the director of marketing, thanking you (on behalf of the company) for purchasing their product. You will also be given some starter instructions on how to use the speaker (the controls and whatnot)

Which one do you choose?

You are looking at two great speakers with some similarities and quite a few differences, as we have seen. Choosing the one perfect for your home depends on the characteristics and specifications that we have provided to you.

Price

As of the price, the HSU comes at a lower cost than the SVS, which means the HSU is more affordable.

As such, if you are looking for speakers that won’t consume too much of your finances, I recommend the HSU VTF-2 MK5.
